Testing Methods
Fan Pressurisation systems are used to calculate the air leakage of a building envelope. The performance of a building is measured by pressurisation of the 'conditioned space' by fans installed into doorways or other suitable apertures.
To pressurise the building, all external openings are closed, and to provide a consistent pressure differential throughout the buidling, all internal doors and openings are wedged open. Once the fans have pressurised the internal cavity of the building, the pressure difference is measured and compared to the external ambient conditions.
To provide accurate data, temperature, barometric pressure and wind speed are taken into account. The test is performed by recording a range of readings, including pressure, within the building and corresponding airflow through the fans to maintain that pressure.
